At Carpenter’s Shelter we have always believed that homelessness, in all of it’s forms, should be rare, brief, and non-recurring.

Rapid Re-Housing

David’s Place, a clean, safe facility connected to Carpenter’s Shelter, is the only day shelter in the City of Alexandria, and focuses specifically on meeting the basic needs of chronically homeless individuals.

The Winter Shelter Collaborative is a partnership funded by the Office of Community Services of the City of Alexandria Department of Community and Human Services with services carried out by Carpenter’s Shelter.

Many of Carpenter’s Shelter’s residents and David’s Place members do not have or receive health care benefits. Under the volunteer leadership of Dr. Laurence Clark, Carpenter’s Clinic is able to provide quality medical care to uninsured clients and community members experiencing homelessness.
