Residential Shelters

Residential Shelters

Carpenter’s Shelter is one of the largest homeless shelters in Northern Virginia, serving approximately 270 children, women, and men experiencing homelessness each year in the residential shelter program.

Residential Shelters

Residents are offered comprehensive, goal-oriented case management including life skills and financial literacy education, mental health services, and employment assistance. The goal is to assist residents with transitioning to permanent, sustainable housing as quickly as possible.

The average stay at Carpenter’s Shelter is 2 months for individuals and 3 months for families.

Individuals and families seeking shelter must be referred from the Homeless Services Assessment Center and complete an intake assessment.
