No child deserves to experience homelessness. At Carpenter’s Shelter, we work to quickly connect families to vital services they need while pursuing the ultimate goal of returning them to stable homes.
In our emergency shelters, we foster an environment where children can simply be children. Volunteers facilitate children’s activities while parents attend various programs like employment and financial workshops. Additionally, we ensure that birthdays, holidays, and other milestones are not only recognized but also celebrated, creating a sense of belonging and community for all residents.
Homelessness can have a significant impact on children – affecting their health, education, sense of security, and overall growth and development. Ensuring consistent access to daycare or schooling, healthcare, and nutritious meals is paramount, alongside providing opportunities for socialization and recreation. Parenting support and the trauma-informed services provided aim to empower families and address the emotional impact of homelessness on children.
