Dear Carpenter’s Shelter Community,

On behalf of the entire Carpenter’s Shelter team, we hope this message finds you in good health and spirits during this challenging time. Amid unprecedented disruption due to COVID-19, Carpenter’s Shelter is working to ensure that all residents, volunteers and staff remain safe all while maintaining our core services to those experiencing homelessness.

Since the onset of the pandemic, we have implemented an array of changes to our policies and procedures to reduce the potential exposure and spread of COVID-19. These have certainly not been easy adaptations, such as the suspension of volunteers inside the shelter, as it runs counter to our organizational culture. Amid all of this, we are closely observing the recommendations of the local health department as well as the CDC and WHO in order to minimize the risk of transmission and protect the health and well-being of our residents, volunteers and employees. That base priority guides us.

As we continue to adapt our respective practices in response to COVID-19, we will provide frequent updates via our social media channels and this page. Those updates will also invite your continued contributions, as it is you (the community) that are our largest funder. Thank you for your continued support during this trying time.

Sincerely,

Shannon Steene

Executive Director
