Please join us on Sunday, October 29th, 2023, from 12 noon to 3 pm at The Birchmere and indulge in an afternoon of food and fun while supporting Carpenter’s Shelter! At the Cook-Off All-Stars, attendees will enjoy tastings from 20 area restaurants, bid on hot ticket items during the live and silent auctions, and listen to live music by the Jones Point Band.

Meet our 2023 Celebrity Judges!

 Chef Daniel Burroughs is a personal chef and owner of the catering and healthy meal prep business, Finishing Touches. He is the former sous chef for the Washington Redskins Organization and Culinary Supervisor for the Presidents Club at the Washington Nationals Baseball Stadium. He had so much fun last year he wanted to participate again this year.
Josephine’s kitchen is helmed by Executive Chef Matt Cockrell, whose 20 years in restaurant kitchens have been exclusively devoted to French cuisine. Cockrell began his career at Georgetown’s French country institution La Chaumiere before joining the opening team at Le Diplomate and eventually moving on to helm the kitchens at Mintwood Place and, later, Brasserie Liberte.
John Taylor Chapman, also known as “Night Mayor,” a fourth-term City Council member elected in November 2012 is on the board for the Northern Virginia Regional Commission and Alexandria Economic Development Partnership. Founder of the Manumission Tour Company, John has earned “Top 10 under 40” and the Men of Courage Lifetime Achievement Award for his impactful leadership and service.
Chef Shelley Everett has catered soirees of all sizes for corporate and celebrity clients, including Oprah Winfrey, Sony Music, The Brooklyn Nets and Luther Vandross. Chef Shelley Everett is the owner of the Gourmet Angel Food Bank and The Chubby Biscuit.
